A Strong Wind is an innovative narrative film about three indigenous Mexicans forced to decide between their farming community and migration to the US.

Home after 3 years away in Detroit, Jorge, 22, dreads telling his wife and young children he must go back, having failed to save enough to build them the house they desperately need.

When her fiance Armando unexpectedly reappears from the U.S. after a long absence, Azucena, 17, enrolled in high school, must decide between her commitment to her village and following Armando to the U.S. to start a family.

Leopoldo, 15, has dropped out of school and can’t find work.  Leopoldo's parents urge Jorge to take him across the border.  Afraid of abandoning his entire world, Leopoldo is tempted by the promise of "a better life."

A Strong Wind is based true stories, and has been developed with and will be acted by the residents of Sevina, Michoacán, Mexico.
